About this treatment
Restore volume with a plan shaped around your features.
JUVÉDERM® is a collection of hyaluronic acid fillers made for different areas of the face. Depending on your anatomy and goals, filler can be used to add or restore volume in areas such as the cheeks, chin, jawline, lips, smile lines and under-eyes; your consultation determines the product and placement.
JUVÉDERM® fillers are made with a modified form of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in the skin that helps retain moisture. Different formulas are designed for different facial areas and types of volume support.
Laser Aesthetics begins with a facial assessment and creates a plan around balance, symmetry and your natural features. The product, amount and placement depend on the area being treated, the existing structure and the change you want to see.
Product choice follows facial assessment.
The JUVÉDERM® collection contains different gel formulations for specific facial areas. A product suited to the lips is not automatically the product chosen for the cheeks, chin, jawline, smile lines or under-eye area.
Susan Caterine, R.N. assesses facial proportions, tissue support and movement before discussing filler. The aim is to choose the smallest appropriate plan for the structure and change you want, then explain expected swelling, bruising, settling and follow-up.
Make the choice about shape, not just product.
Dermal filler planning starts with the area you want to address and the shape or support you hope to change. JUVÉDERM® is a hyaluronic acid filler range. The appropriate formulation, amount and placement depend on the assessment, rather than a standard amount for every face.
Bring details of previous fillers, even if they were placed at another clinic or years ago. Ask what the proposed treatment can achieve, what it cannot change, and how swelling may affect the early appearance. Your consultation is also the time to discuss the total cost and follow-up.

Common questions
What is hyaluronic acid filler?
Hyaluronic acid filler is a gel used to add temporary volume or support in selected areas. JUVÉDERM® uses modified hyaluronic acid, a substance related to one naturally present in the body. Different formulations have different roles. Your consultation should connect the proposed product to your concern, whether that is contour, a fold or lost volume, and explain the change it can reasonably achieve.
Where can JUVÉDERM® be used?
The Canadian JUVÉDERM® collection includes formulations intended for different areas, such as the cheeks, lips, chin and certain facial folds. This does not mean every product or area is suitable for every patient or available as a clinic treatment. Ask us which specific formulation is proposed for your anatomy, why it fits the area and what alternatives are available before deciding.
What does treatment feel like?
You may feel the injection and pressure as the product is placed. JUVÉDERM® formulations contain lidocaine, and comfort options can be discussed beforehand. Tell us about reactions to dental freezing or other local anesthetics, as well as any anxiety about needles. Knowing what concerns you allows the consultation to address both the clinical plan and how you would experience the appointment.
What should I expect afterward?
Swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness can follow filler treatment, so the immediate appearance is not necessarily the settled result. Rare vascular complications can be serious: seek immediate medical attention for vision changes, unusual severe pain or concerning skin colour changes. Before leaving, clarify expected recovery, review timing and how to contact the clinic urgently; a general FAQ cannot assess an unexpected reaction.
How is the amount of filler chosen?
Your starting anatomy and desired change matter more than choosing a syringe quantity in advance. Ask what each proposed area contributes to the plan, whether a staged approach makes sense and how the total cost is calculated. Bring up your budget and any event dates at the consultation so you understand the commitment and recovery considerations before agreeing to treatment.
Is dermal filler the same as a wrinkle-relaxing injection?
No. Filler provides volume or structural support, while wrinkle-relaxing injections reduce selected muscle activity. A line caused mainly by facial movement may need a different discussion from a hollow or loss of contour. Tell us what you notice both at rest and when smiling or frowning; the assessment should explain which concern is being addressed and whether one treatment, several stages or no treatment is appropriate.
