About this treatment

Treat active acne and the marks it can leave behind.

Acne can involve excess oil, clogged pores, bacteria and inflammation, so no single treatment fits every skin. Laser Aesthetics builds acne programmes from options including BLU-U light therapy, IPL, microdermabrasion and Pixel laser resurfacing, based on whether the priority is active breakouts, redness, texture or scarring.

Active acne and post-acne changes need different tools. Blue light can target acne-related bacteria, IPL can address redness, and resurfacing or exfoliating treatments may be considered for congestion, texture and selected scars.

The programme can also work alongside dermatologist care and medical-grade skincare. The first step is identifying whether the priority is active inflammation, oil, blocked pores, redness, pigmentation or residual texture.

Treat the acne you have now.

A useful acne plan separates active inflammatory breakouts from congestion, redness, pigmentation and established scars. Each concern responds to different tools, and treating everything at once can add irritation without improving the result.

The clinic reviews your current prescriptions, over-the-counter products, sensitivity and previous treatment before combining light therapy, exfoliation, resurfacing or home care. The plan can change as active acne settles and texture becomes the next priority.

Separate active acne from marks and scarring.

Active breakouts, the marks left behind and changes in skin texture may need different approaches. Tell us which concern matters most, how long it has been present and what you have already tried. A list of current skin products and prescriptions helps make that conversation more useful.

Acne care may involve more than one treatment and usually needs time to assess. Ask which step addresses active breakouts, which addresses marks, and when progress should be reviewed. Changing several products at once can make it harder to explain what has helped or irritated your skin.

Common questions

Which acne treatments are available?

The clinic offers light-based care, skincare and procedures that may form different parts of an acne and post-acne plan. BLU-U is discussed for inflammatory acne, while resurfacing may be considered for residual texture after breakouts are controlled. These are different goals, not interchangeable treatments. Start by explaining whether active spots, discomfort, marks or scarring are your main concern.

How is a treatment selected?

Assessment separates active acne from redness, pigmentation and scars, because treating one does not necessarily improve the others. We also review current products, prescriptions and past reactions. Tell us what you have already tried, for how long and what changed; that history helps make the conversation specific and avoids simply repeating a routine that did not suit your skin.

Can acne scars be treated at the same time?

Active inflammation may need attention before a procedure aimed at scarring. Flat colour changes and indented scars also require different discussions, so a single treatment should not be assumed to address every post-acne mark. Ask which concern would be treated first, why that sequence is recommended and when the remaining texture or pigment could be reassessed.

Can I continue dermatologist care?

Yes. Tell us about your dermatologist's diagnosis, prescriptions and instructions so clinic care can be considered alongside that plan. Do not stop or replace prescribed acne treatment based on a cosmetic-service description. If a proposed procedure appears to conflict with existing advice, ask the clinicians to clarify timing and suitability before you book rather than trying to reconcile the instructions yourself.

Why might an acne plan change over time?

A plan may shift as breakouts settle, sensitivity changes or residual marks become the main concern. Improvement is assessed over time, and more procedures are not automatically the next step. At a review, describe both progress and irritation, then ask whether to continue, simplify or change the approach and what evidence would justify that decision.

What should I bring to an acne consultation?

Bring product names or label photographs, your medication list and any dermatologist instructions. Note when acne began, areas affected and treatments that caused irritation or helped temporarily. It can be useful to write down the question you most want answered, such as controlling painful breakouts or understanding scars, so the visit stays focused on the problem affecting you most.

Recommendations are informational. A clinical consultation is required to confirm suitability, risks and expected results.
